Is this hard or complicated?
It is only as complicated as you want it to be. Low power Estes kits have very clear instructions and can be put together in an hour. High power certification just requires you to build a larger kit, put in the kit's file and motor you'll be using into a program, and look at two numbers there (paraphrasing). If you want to, you can make it much more complicated of course.
Do I need prior experience?
Nope. Pretty much none of us had prior experience. We're very welcoming to new people and all here to learn more. As long as you want to do those two, welcome in. Ask questions.
